Ever since Tegan & Sara decided to embrace synth pop in 2013, they have honestly become one of the best twin pop acts on the planet. Granted, there are only a couple but when you think of the top 3, it definitely includes Tegan & Sara.
They have a new album called Love You To Death and the first single is called "Boyfriend." It seems like the girls are sticking with Greg Kurstin's production because the bubbly 80's-influenced track remains top-notch. It follows the latest trend of amazing pop songs involving mixed sexualities and falling in love with someone who can never love you back the way you want them to.
They also released another track called "U-Turn" today which is quite amazing as well, but "Boyfriend" tells a story that has not been told as often as it should, a girl keeping their female lover a secret. It's unfair for Tegan & Sara to have to deal with that, but it's also unfair to other pop stars who have to deal with the punch of pop amazingness that "Boyfriend" delivers.
